Nuvation has developed a hardware-centric evaluation platform around the Cypress FX3 peripheral IC. This overall evaluation platform includes the ability to interface to an external FPGA based solution and leverages existing off the shelf development boards. The default target development board is the low cost BeMicro SDK housing an Altera Cyclone IV FPGA. An HSMC card-edge adaptor is also available allowing developers to attach our FX3 development board to Altera’s higher end FPGA development systems via the common HSMC add-on interface.
This eval/demo kit has been designed to allow users to see not only how much faster the SuperSpeed USB3.0 interface is than USB2.0 technology, but also to see how easy Nuvation has made it to interface with Altera FPGAs through the GPIF II interface on the FX3 device.
