Cypress Expands Industry's Most Complete Portfolio of Asynchronous SRAMs With Three New Devices

Last Updated: 03/26/2009

64-Mbit Low-Power SRAM and 3- and 6-Mbit Fast Asynchronous SRAMs
Demonstrate Best-in-Class Technology and Breadth of Offerings

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 26, 2009 – Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) today introduced a low-power SRAM and two fast asynchronous SRAMs to add to its industry-leading portfolio. The new 64-Mbit MoBL® (More Battery Life™) SRAM is the market’s highest-density low-power SRAM. It is designed to extend battery life in high-end point-of-sale terminals, gaming applications, VoIP phones, handheld consumer and medical devices and more. The new 3- and 6-Mbit fast asynchronous SRAMs interface with 24-bit wide processors in audio processing, wireless and networking applications.

Cypress is the industry leader for fast asynchronous and low-power SRAMs, with portfolios that range from 4 Kbits to 32 Mbits and 64 Kbits to 64 Mbits, respectively. The CY62187EV30LL 64-Mbit 3V MoBL SRAM offers a 4M x 16 configuration with typical ultra-low standby current of 8 uA and 55-ns access time (taa). It is available in a RoHS-compliant 48-BGA package with a footprint of 8.0 x 9.5 x 1.4 mm, the smallest package option for a device of this density.

The CY7C1024DV33 3-Mbit 3.3V SRAM offers a 128K x 24 configuration and the CY7C1034DV33 6-Mbit 3.3V SRAM offers a 256K x 24 configuration. Both devices offer 10-ns access times and are available in RoHS-compliant 119-BGA package options. The asynchronous SRAMs are fabricated using Cypress's high-performance, 90-nanometer C9™ CMOS technology.

“Cypress’s continued investment in asynchronous SRAMs demonstrates our long term commitment to the SRAM market for years to come,” said Badri Kothandaraman, vice president of the Asynchronous Memory Business Unit at Cypress. “We are determined to enhance our leadership position in the SRAM market by launching new products that cater to a wide spectrum of applications.”
