Programmable Clocks Overview

Cypress’s field-programmable timing solutions combine the convenience of easy configuration with the high performance that customers have come to expect from Cypress's timing products, at a cost that is competitive with custom clocks at equivalent volumes. Not only can designers select output frequencies, they can also optimize device parameters such as:

 Drive strength
 Phased-lock loop bandwidth
 Crystal input capacitive loading.

In-System Programmable (ISP) Clocks, aka In-System Reprogrammable (ISR) Clocks, can be customized at any point in the lifetime of the product.  A customized clock configuration can be programmed through the I2C interface to enable one part number to be ordered, stocked, and placed on different boards, then customized with the specific frequencies as required.
