Question: Can PSoC designer 4.4 be used with Windows 7?
Answer: PSoC Designer 4.4 is not supported under Windows 7. However, you may still try the following.
1) If you see the following message upon installation, “You have to run the 64-bit version of DPInst.exe on this machine. Contact the vendor that provided you this package”, proceed with the installation by clicking OK. Also, if Windows asks if you want to install an older SVG version, answer Yes.
After the installation, you are required to register the Imagecraft compiler. Use the following steps:
Go to Run and type “regedit.”
Go to Computer >HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >SOFTWARE >Wow6432Node-Cypress MicroSystems >PSoC Designer >AddIn-> Compilers >IMAGECRAFT >
If an IMAGECRAFT folder is not there, add it by selecting ADDIn. Next, go to File Menu >Edit >New >Key and name the new key IMAGECRAFT.
Next, select IMAGECRAFT and go to File Menu >Edit >New >String Value. Name the new string value COMPILER_LICENSE . Enter your license key in the following format: XXXXXXX-XXXXXX
Restart your system.
Replacement licenses for PSoC Designer 4.4 (or earlier) may be purchased from ImageCraft for $99.95. ImageCraft is free of charge with PSoC Designer 5.2 and later versions. Cypress highly recommends PSoC Designer 5.2 and later due to a better compiler, better performance, more features, and more user modules.
2) You can also migrate to PSoC 5.1 or later versions (Cypress recommends 5.2 or above), which are compatible with Windows 7. The details are given in PSoC Designer FAQs available at http://www.cypress.com/?rID=53335. If you have any trouble migrating your designs to a newer release, please contact Cypress Technical Support.
