STA Warnings IN PSoC® 3 ES3/Production Release Silicons- KBA 84739

Last Updated: 12/06/2012

Question: Why do I get Static Timing Analysis (STA) warnings in my design for PSoC® 3 ES3 and Production release silicons and PSoC 5LP? I do not get these warnings if I port the project to PSoC 3 ES2 or PSoC 5.

Answer: The STA feature is added to PSoC Creator 1.0 and later versions. It supports only PSoC 3 and PSoC 5LP devices but not PSoC 3 ES2 samples or PSoC 5 ES1 devices.

Therefore, if the project based on PSoC 3 ES2 or PSoC 5 ES1 compiles without any warning, it is because the tool is disabled for those devices and the design is not guaranteed to work as expected if it fails due to timing issues. For more information about STA, refer to the application note: AN81623 – “PSoC® 3 and PSoC 5 Digital Design Best Practices.
