Effect of Spread Spectrum Signal Through ZDB

Last Updated: 06/23/2011

Can a ZDB filter out a spread spectrum signal ?

This question comes up because the ZDBs family of product have a reputation for having low loop bandwidth. The answer, however, is NO. Even though the ZDB does have low loop bandwidth, it does not a low enough loop bandwidth to that granularity to be able to filter out the spread to give a clean clock. There are Spread Aware Buffers available to check that will allow a spread spectrum signal and not filter it.
