USB Audio - stereo

Could a PSoC 5 support USB Audio in stereo?

I see there is a USB Audio sample project, but it only does mono with a very basic feature set. I wondered if anyone knows if a PSoC 5 would be capable of doing USB Audio 2.0 Spec audio? Specifically 16 bit linear PCM at 44100 and 48000 Hz sample rates.

I don't mind if I need to use external DACs etc.

I've asked a similar question over in the USB Full Speed forum to see if there is some other Cypress part which could do this.

USB Audio 2.0 requires support for High Speed, 480 Mb/s.

A High speed device starts as a full speed device, and then if device is

capable of high speed enumertaes to that speed. So if your device

must support 480 Mb/s PSOC cannot do that, it supports full speed.

 Thanks Dana

Do you know if any of the other Cypress USB devices would be suitable?

If you are just trying to handle the physical layer requirements there

are a number of devices -

But if you are trying to handle the prcessing of data at that rate, 60 MB/s,

thats a much bigger problem.

No - like I said, stereo 16 bit PCM at 41Khz and 48Khz is the absolute maximum - no where near 60MB/s

Also I have read the USB Specs again, and the specs for the device I am connecting this new product too, and I cannot see anywhere that says is MUST by High-Speed. They do say it must be 'full speed' and if you want to support 'high speed' then that would be nice, but I can't seee anywhere that mandates it.

There are literally hundreds of Stereo USB Sound cards on the market - what do they use? I bet some of them have FX2 or similar in them, along with a codec or DAC(s).

I could use a dedicated Audio USB Codec, but I need to add the 2nd, vendor specific interface - not a second configuration, but a composite device.

You are correct, USB Audio 2.0 adds high speed as a capability into spec,

but does not require it to be considered a 2.0 audio device.
