I am trying to use Linear technology 16 Bit DAC. I am a little confused about the description. Is it an I2C communications device or SPI device? When I look at SPI there is reference to MOSI and MOSO.

Some please help me on the emantics.

Thank You,

Philip Nielsen

I just discovered it is a I2c part. I was hoping it was a true SPI comunication device

Hi Philip,

Many of the DACs available in market support both I2C and SPI interface. User needs to configure appropriately to use one of these.

Audio DACs also support I2S interface and in that case PSoC should act as an I2S Master.

Which Linear Technology part are you intending to use?

I was going to use LTC2642. It is a 16 bit DAC. WE have allot of 12 bit DACS. But I need more resolution.

You can do a 16 bit DAC with a 16 bit PWM, if you can live with

the setlling time/ripple associated with output filter. Attached a

discussion of the filter.

Or use 2 8 bit PWMs -
