 PSoC with USB and PSoC with WirelessUSB implement great idea. But all of them are USB-periferials and couldn't connects between themselves. A host computer with host USB port is required to operate with our PSoC USB - based gadgets. But a computer, generally it is PC, is not the best choice for a lot of applications, because of it weight, power consumption and lack of speed. What are the alternatives? Has Cypress host USB IC's?

I have a question: Cypress USB portfolio is presented in the table "USB Overview". And why the PSoC devices aren't included into the table? PSoC devices with USB subsystem can be considered as USB peripherals, can't be?

Hi,

enCoRe II, enCoRe III, enCoRe V are the chips that you are interested in (as they are based on PSoC architecture) and they are listed in the USB Overview.

 Yes, I see. But I consider CY8C24x94 and CY7C64215, both of them with USB and the reconfigurable.

In other words, I am puzzled why CY8C24x94 and CY7C64215 (and other - PSoC3 or PSoC5 - devices with USB resource) weren't included into the table as USB peripherals? Accident or for some reason?

"Other" PSoC3 and PSoC5 devices have an USB interface, but they cannot act as an USB-Host. That's the reason why they are not listed together with the enCore chips.

the chips enCoRe II, enCoRe III, enCoRe V are defined exactly as USB peripherals, not the hosts. And it seems to me, the PSoC chips with USB (such as CY8C24x94 and CY7C64215) have to be placed in the same position.

Hi,

CY7C64215 is nothing but enCoRe III. so it is there in the list.

Coming to CY8C24x94, we recommend this for capsense applications.

enCoRe III is a very similar to CY8C24x94. So if you just need a full speed device controller then you can go for enCoRe III or V rather then going for CY8C24x94.

 Yes, I see. "enCoRe III" is the alias (another designation) for CY7C64215. And the table  "USB Overview"

is only the introducing "Overview", and not the exhaustive list with all details. Thank You.

 Returning to the table "USB Overview" http://www.cypress.com/?id=167&source=home_products

there are 3 USB Host ICs - EZ-HOST™, EZ-OTG™ and SL811HS - and all of them placed in column USB 1.1 as low-speed chips.

But on the page USB Hosts http://www.cypress.com/?id=186 we can read differing information

"EZ-HOST™

The world’s first automotive qualified multiport Full-speed USB host/peripheral controller.

 

EZ-OTG™

Single-chip programmable dual role USB controller which supports both Full- and Low-Speed USB."

Then the two chips have to be placed in USB 2.0 column, are not they?

Hi AZ01,

 

EZ-Host is a full speed host controller and EZ-OTG is a full speed On-The-Go host/peripheral controller.

These two chips does not support High speed. They only support full speed.

So they will not come under USB 2.0 since they are not supporting High speed.
