any chance to erase the 24lc128 eeprom on the cy3684 board after loading hid_ky.iic?

Hellow I encountered a problem when I using cy3684 board. I loaded the” hid_kb.iic” file, contained in the DVK, to the 24lc128 eeprom that we are using. But then the Cypress USB Console and the EZ-USB Interface could not access the board when I pluged the USB into PC. However the device manager can recognize it, and the firmware runs well. But I can not operate the 24lc128 eeprom. If I want to operate the 24lc128 eeprom, what should I do? Is there a chance to erase the eeprom or reload the eeprom, if I want? Best regards, Xu Zhitao

 Hi,

What is the VID/PID being shown in the Device Manager when it is recognized there? ensure it is the same as the one in dscr.a51 file inside the hid-kb firmware (i.e. 0x04B4/0x1005). You need to add an entry in the CyUSB.inf file for the same VID/PID. Refer CyUSB.pdf which you can find at C:\Cypress\Cypress Suite USB 3.4.x\Driver after installing Cypress SuiteUSB (http://www.cypress.com/?rID=34870).

Secondly, in order to load the EEPROM with a different firmware,

1. connect the board first to PC without any EEPROM (if it is the DVK keep EEPROM ENABLE switch in NO EEPROM position. If it is your custom board, I believe it is possible for you to connect and disconnect EEPROM).

2. It will come up in Cyconsole (with VID/PID = 0x04B4/0x8613).

3. Now put the EEPROM in the path (i.e. if DVK put EEPRO ENABLE switch in EEPRO position and EEPROM SELECT SWITCH in LARGE EEPROM).

4. Now download the firmware to LARGE EEPROM using LARGE EEPROM burron in CyConsole.

Gayathri

Hi,

Thank you, Gayathri.

I have solved the problem with the help of Gayathri. Thank you very much.

Although 0x04B4/0x1005(VID/PID) is not contained in the cyusb.inf file, PC can recognize the usb device with the VID/PID of 0x04B4/0x1005, because the usb device is a HID device. After plug the usb device with the file of hid_kb.iic, “HID Keyboard Device ” will be shown under the keyboard in the device manager.

I downloaded other iic files with the following steps:

1.       Connect the board to PC without EEPROM. “

Cypress EZ-USB FX2LP – EEPROM missing” will be shown in the device manager.

2.       Enable the EEPROM on the board.

3.       Use EZ-USB interface to download the Vendax.hex file at C:\Cypress\USB\Examples\FX2LP\Vend_ax.

4.       Enter the values into the Vend Req toolbar, followed by:

Req = 0xA9

Value = 0x0000

Index = 0xbeef

Length = 1

Dir = 0 OUT

Hex Bytes = 00

       We can see that The EEPROM is erased in this step. Unplug the board and plug it to PC again, “Cypress EZ-USB FX2LP – EEPROM missing” will be shown in the device manager again.
