Cannot install the driver for CyUSB3014 on a custom board

Hi,

I am using our custom board and I follow the steps in CyAPI.pdf regarding the "Matching Devices to the Driver".

1. In Step A.1. the default path is "C:\Program Files\Cypress\FX3 Host Software\Driver\bin"

Eventhough I installed the Cypress in the default path, there is no folder with name: "FX3 Host Software".

Instead I can find the driver in the path: "C:\Program Files\Cypress\EZ-USB FX3 SDK\1.0\driver\bin"

2. There was no [Device] section in the CYUSB3.INF, so I added one.

3. In Step A.4. it is asked for VendorID and ProductID. Where can I find this information about the IC on the board? I used the default values suggested in the pdf but I receive the message:

The specified location does not contain information about your hardware

4. There are already some other VID and PID in the CYUSB3.INF, should they be kept or have to be removed?

Thanks,

Nazila

I think something is wrong with the new driver (or instalation). On another computer (win 7 x64), the device was recognized and the Control Center showed the device. Immediately after the uninstalling the old version and insalling the new one, windows recognize the device as unknown and encounter problem when installing the driver. Any help is highly appreciated.

Between old and new driver, are getting a "Unknown device" pop-up or inf file doesn't contain details of hardware error?

Unknown device would be the case where device manager would show the device with VID/PID 0x0000/0x0000. If that is the case it is not related to the driver it is related to the hardware.

Please post details of the machine (OS, 32 bit or 64 bit, USB3 host controller) in which you're seeing this issue and the inf file being used.

Regards,

Anand

Hi,

I found what was wrong. The FSLC pins were wrong. Now it is recognizing the device as "Cypress USB BootLoader".

Thanks,

Nazila
