FX3 Does not enumerate as superspeed

I can't seem to get my DVK, rev3, to enumerate as superspeed.  It will enumerate as high speed but that's it.  I've tried it on two machines with two different cables and the same results.  I've tried running code from the debugger and downloading it with the USB Control Center, same results.  I typically try running the cyfxbulklpmanual example but I have tried others as well. Both machines have a NEC controller chip although one machine is a PCIe card and the other is on the motherboard.  Seems like others on this forum have had success the NEC so I don't think that's the issue.  Any suggestions?

Forgot to mention, CyU3PUsbGetSpeed() always returns HIGHSPEED.

Guess I'm not going to get any help here either.

Do you have any other USB3 device? mass storage stick? etc etc. Have you tried plugging in one of them just to be sure that your PC has the configurations right for working with USB3 devices?

Anand

Hi rdaley,

my experience is that the USB-SS-cable and it's length has also a significant influence to the USB SuperSpeed-capability.

I have one USB-SS-cable (seems to be from Hama) where the FX3 just enumerates as a HighSpeed-device. With another (also shorter) cable the FX3 enumerates as SuperSpeed...

So keep the cable as short as possible and try different ones.

Regards,

Robert!

Trying another USB3.0 device is a good idea.  Unfortunately I don't have one handy but I'll find one somewhere and see if it works.

The cable was the first thing I suspected only because I replaced the one that came with the DVK with a longer cable.  I've tried the short one as well but I always get the same results. Maybe I should try another short cable just to make sure that's not the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions!

So it looks like I had a bad DVK.  Cypress replaced the board and now I can get it to enumerate on a Windows 7 machine but still no luck with my Vista x64 machine.
