After installing SuiteUSB 3.4 - USB Development Tools for Visual Studio, you can find the CYUSB.sys driver in the below directory.

C:\Program Files\Cypress\Cypress Suite USB 3.4.1\Driver

This driver supports 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows XP,Windows Vista and Windows 7.

For windows 7 you will find in the C:\Program Files\Cypress\Cypress Suite USB 3.4.1\Driver\wlh

Hi ,

You need to edit the file in the directory where your driver is , i.e. suppose you sre using win7 32 bit then this is the path "C:\Program Files\Cypress\Cypress Suite USB 3.4.2\Driver\bin\wlh\x86" if you are using win7 64 bit then "C:\Program Files\Cypress\Cypress Suite USB 3.4.2\Driver\bin\wlh\x64", both these folders have inf files depending upon your OS add the vid/pid info in the correct inf file and point to it when asked for driver.

I am attaching a inf file for 64bit win 7 , if you want for 32bit then modify the vid pid under ;for x86 platforms.

Thank you for the answer
I edit the file and I tried the x64 version and x86

but Windows 7 said he does not find a driver in this directory
I did the test without the jumper with VID 04b4 and PID 8613
with jumper the vid/pid is 0925 and  3881

What is the problem ?

I have the same problem; if it’s like my case he gets the very descriptive message:

“Windows could not find driver for your device.”

I have the same problem with window 7 x 64

the usb driver is not loading

got your copy of cyusb1.inf

pointed back to this file to install the driver .

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

when i try to update the driver windows comes back with a message

"windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date"

Unknown Device

if i click on driver details i get

" no driver files are required or have been loaded for this drvice"

I am stuck now cant get this to work is there any other way to get the driver to load?

M0DMJ,

In cyusb1.inf there is a ; before the VID_04B4 statement. ; is a comment line in inf file. Remove that ; and modify the corresponding lines to your VID/PID and it should work fine.

That is because the inf file will say the driver is in the same folder as the driver file. Don't do the copying.

Keep both inf file and driver file in same folder and try.

Only if you use a installer it will take care of specifying the drivers are in the specific system tolder.

 Hi,

[Device.NTx86] is for 32 bit processor. Since yours is a 64bit systems, you need to write the VID/PID under [Device.NTamd64]. Please find attached inf file. I have added the two entries for you in the appropriate section. Please check it out.

for x64 platforms
[Device.NTamd64]
;VID_XXXX&PID_XXXX.DeviceDesc%=CyUsb, USB\VID_XXXX&PID_XXXX
VID_04B4&PID_8613.DeviceDesc%=CyUsb, USB\VID_04B4&PID_8613

; DMM
VID_0F3F&PID_F010.DeviceDesc%=CyUsb, USB\VID_0F3F&PID_F010

; Scope
VID_0F3F&PID_F022.DeviceDesc%=CyUsb, USB\VID_0F3F&PID_F022

 Hi,

In the entries that you have posted in the previous response, I see % symbol missing at the very start of the entry. It should be as below:

%VID_0F3F&PID_F010.DeviceDesc%=CyUsb, USB\VID_0F3F&PID_F010

I believe you missed that thing only in the post. Please ensure the same.

When you are binding using the Install driver Wizard, what does it show at the end? Does it give some warning/ error message ? Please check VID/PID being shown in the Device manager (right click on device -> Properties -> Details tab). Also check what is the message displayed in the Device Status coloumn in the Device manager (right click on device -> properties -> General tab). Please attach screenshots of both.

Did you use the same inf file that I had attached in the previous response? Just change its to CyUSB.inf (change extension from txt to inf). Just wanted to ensure this.

Regards,

Gayathri

it appears under something called human interface driver/usb input device

then when i update the driver to bind my device with the .inf driver

i get this message

the folder you specified doesnot contain a compatible software driver for your device. if your folder contains a driver make sure that it works with windows 32-bit system

what can i do now at the control center i have an EZ-usb appearing but when i try to download the program it tells me please select an fx2 device from the tree

i would appreciate if any one helps

thank you.

 Hi Hammouda,

Which USB device are you using? Please clarify.

It is coming under the HID devices in device manager since the PC is recognizing that as HID device, and not as a generic USB device. This info will be passed to the PC in the descriptor information. In the descriptor, we would be specifying the class information. If the code mentioned there is of HID class, then it will bind to the Windows HID driver by default.

Please detaiil the device that you are using, so that we can help you.

Gayathri

 Hi Hammouda,

I did not go through your schematic fully. But at the first glance, I noticed that you have a jumper J3 which can be used to disconnect  the EEPROM from FX2LP. So initially connect your board with J3 left open. Now, the device will come up under "USB devices" in device manager, as "NO-EEPROM" or "EEPROM Missing". If it prompts to bind the driver, point it to the correct CyUSB.inf with VID/PID entry of 0x04B4/0x8613. (More about binding with driver can be found at "C:\Cypress\Cypress Suite USB 3.4.x\Driver\CyUSB.chm" aftter installing SuiteUSB from http://www.cypress.com/?rID=34870).

Once it appears as "NO-EEPROM" device in device manager, it will also show up in CyConsole/ Control Centre. Now select the device from Treeview in Control Centre. Put jumper J3 back. Select PROGRAM FX2 -> 64KB EEPROM and then browse to the location having the iic file that you need to download to the EEPROM. Click Open and this will download the firmware to EPPROM. Following this, RESET your board/ Unplug and plug in again. This will cause the renumeration of device running the new firmware. It will again prompt for the driver. Now point to the CyUSB.inf as you did before. But now, you need to ensure that VID/PID corresponding to the one in the firmware must be entered in CyUSB.inf.

I think, EEPROM already contains some firmware that corresponds to HID class firmware. Please check this out and let me know if it works out.

Regards,

Gayathri

i have removed j3 and now my device is with no eeprom.......

but the windows device manager had put it under something called unknown device..... and when i tried to bind the driver with the cy.inf it didnot give me the past error but i have a new error  now while binding it

it says " windows ecountered a problem installing the driver software for your device "

"windows found the driver software to your device but encountered an error while installing it"

"Cypress EZ-USB with no eeprom"

"The configuration registery key is invalid"

Ok there are some new things happend here and they are all strange

first of all the cy.inf file must be edited by a text viewer and we must change the xxxx part in the vid/pid to put the known values for my device

ok i made sure i did that part

second of all i knew from past conversations in this forum that i have to remove the (;) mark before each line to make the line active ok i did that

all that i did in the cy.inf file in the "x86" file under "wlh" and it gave me the error of windows has encountered an error during installation thing ok........

so i gave it a try to use the cy.inf file under the folder "x86" under the folder "w2k" this time which i have not defined the vid/pid for and guess what......!!!!!!!!!!

it worked .........very strangeeeee.

but another problem happend now that after i dowloaded the iic file to the eeprom and i opened the bulklook application it says that it doesnot see the bulkloop device.....well that is expected because what is installed is the fx2 with no eeprom

when i put in the eeprom it sees it as a cy device under usb generic and everything is ok but identified as "with no eeprom device"

but when i put the eeprom back its not recognized and again put under unknown devices part.......

so it will obviously wont work with the bulkloop application because it doesnot see the device WITH THE EEPROM

so i thought of a different thing why shant i download the .hex file of the bulkloop directly to the ram .......with no eeprom

i did that but the result was still the same

PLEASE GYATHRI TELL ME WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENING HERE SEEMS LIKE ALOT OF STRANGE THINGS TOGEATHER.

The "No EEPROM" part is the string that is used in the inf file. FX2LP doesn't inform the host whether there is a EEPROM connected or not.

If your board is being detected with EEPROM and comes up as unknown device when EEPROM is not connected. Then I suspect there might be board issues. Are you following the schematic review checklist in http://www.cypress.com/?docID=30633 and layout guidelines specified in http://www.cypress.com/?docID=32407

it has just worked alright

i had a problem removing the ( ; ) mark from alot of unneccessary lines and paragraphs..........

i just removed the ( ; ) from the line only  under my platform or system category (X86) and it worked just fine........

sorry for the disturbance and thank you.
