can i interface my light sensor with CY8CKIT-001 PSoC1 .

if yes, then hw can i interface it in order to detect light intensity. help me out me sample module

if not, then what is another option i should go for? Do i've to buy another kit for interfacing.

This thread answered that question.

In thread is an application note and an associated project to measure

the frequency out of the light sensor, which light level is a f( frequency ).

Please give this workaround a try, for Windows8 - http://www.cypress.com/?app=forum&id=2232&rID=74548

Don't forget to state what is the requirment of your design, it would help to check if the design fulfills your reqirment.

Dana: i m attaching file. my work is same to calculate frequency of light. but this time i m using photodiode for this purpose.

i've design it in PSoC designer 5.3. can u tell me if i've to distinguish different color of light while making it fall in sensor. how would i do it with photodiode

When you want to distinguish different coulors you'll need several diodes and optical filters Bob

BoB: ok...what if i've to distinguish color range of individual light by making only fall one light at a time... i've photodiode available with me right now.

Ishu, in a past post I pointed you to Avago color sensors, which

consist of 3 internal photodiodes with RGB filter on them,

R on one, G on another, B on the third. That way the diode only

sees its respective primary color. Once you calibrate the diodes

then from the current out of each diode you then know what its

color coordinates are on the CIE curve, hence its color.

Here is an example of a sensor with I2C interface, it is calibrated, does

all the work for you. www.sparkfun.com/products/8618

Ishu, I am so confused as to what you need I think I may not be able to

assist you furthur. If I recall correctly -

1) You started with a PSOC 1 part

2) To detect light level

3) Then a discussion ensued about how to measure frequency, maye 100's of

posts covering this

3) Then you wanted to detect color

4) Next you wanted to use simple diodes to detect color

5) Now you want to use PSOC 3/5

A number of us asked for a specification of the project, a schematic, to enable us

to aid you. None has been given.

Good luck on your design effort.

Regards, Dana.

Hi Ishu,

As stated from Dana, There is no way we can give you meaningful help without the specification of your project first.

And if you want to use a different PSoC, it is better to post it to the correct sub-forum.

How about this. A system is to perform some operation or output according to some input

So your system should perform something as in the following statement

If (???????)
then (??????)

Fill in the blank so we can proceed to the next step

You should not consider what component to use or what softare/hardware to use at this stage.
