| This Application Note describes a method to interface a standard LCD display to a PSoC device using only 3 I/O pins. |
| The PSoC device has a built in library to drive a standard LCD display. The LCD User Module requires 7 I/O pins for the interface. So it is not possible to drive an LCD display with the 8-pin device. This Application Note describes a method to drive the LCD with only 3 I/O pins. Thus, while using an 8-pin PSoC device, 3 I/O pins are available for other functions. The associated project has a library to write to an LCD display. All the functions are compatible with the LCD User Module so that an existing project with LCD interface can be modified without any change to the main program. Only the library files need to be added to the project. |
